Boonville Fire Department is a Combination Fire Department, with 14 Full-Time Firefighters and approximately 12 Volunteer Firefighters. Becoming a Volunteer Firefighter with Boonville Fire Department is very rewarding, yet very challenging and  time consuming. You will get the opportunity to serve the citizens of your community and help protect the City of Boonville and Boon Township.

Newly appointed Volunteer Firefighters will have to attend classes and become certified to a minimum level of: Basic Firefighter, Firefighter 1 & 2,  Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, First Responder and must complete NIMS (National Incident Management System) training. Volunteer Firefighters may then have the opportunity to attend classes for several other higher level certifications. 

 Boonville Fire Department Volunteers meet the 1st Tuesday and last Tuesday of every month for continuing education and departmental training. Members are also required to attend any mandatory department training, as scheduled by the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief or Training Officer. 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a Citizen of the United States.
• Must reside in Boon Township.
• Must be a High School Graduate or possess a G.E.D. Certificate.
• Valid Indiana driver's license.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Not have been convicted of a Felony.
• Good moral character.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Applications will be reviewed by the department selection committee and applicants will be interviewed by the selection committee as needed to fill vacant positions. Applicants that are selected by the committee will have to complete and pass any testing or training deemed necessary by the department before becoming a Volunteer Firefighter.
